A Thought

How do you feel when there is a lack of clarity in your life?

How does it affect your ability to move forward?

How does it impact your mental/emotional health? What about your relationships?

What do you do when you lack clarity?

For me, lacking clarity is frustrating! It feels paralyzing like I can’t move forward. I’m stuck!

When I lack clarity, I tend to go up into my head a lot. Rolling things around in my mind repeatedly. This affects my relationships because I’m preoccupied, and not present to them. I feel anxious because I talk to myself in unkind ways, putting pressure on myself to “figure it out”. Sometimes I neglect my self-care because I’m so preoccupied with getting clarity.

Can you relate?

Thankfully, I’ve learned a better way. I’ve learned that clarity is a process and it’s available to me if I’m willing to do the work. This “work” involves getting to know myself, what I’m thinking and feeling, and what I want. It involves being honest with myself without judgment. Gaining clarity requires me to invest time and attention to the process, and a very important relationship. The relationship I have with myself.

One of the greatest skills I’ve learned in helping me gain clarity is the skill of emotional intelligence (EQ). The first pursuit of EQ is to Know Yourself. This pursuit is about increasing self-awareness, and understanding what you are feeling and what those emotions are telling you. For many of us, we have unconscious patterns that we slip into. While these patterns are familiar, they may not provide the outcomes we desire. This can lead to a self-defeating cycle of feeling frustrated and losing confidence in our ability to be effective. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can develop the skills of EQ and gain the clarity and confidence you’ve been looking for. These skills apply to any area of your life. It begins with clarity.
